Explain this week’s central concepts accurately, respectfully, and in clear language.
Complete the capstone presentation and correct any remaining errors after discussion.
Connect belief and law to observable practice in home, synagogue, and community.
Core content
A valid convert’s full Jewish status; ahavat hager; communal belonging; Israel; lifelong Torah study; kabbalat ol mitzvot; and the Beit Din-supervised procedures of brit milah or hatafat dam brit for male candidates and immersion in a kosher mikveh.
Required reading
Tanakh timeline; Pirkei Avot 1; a concise Jewish history text approved by the rabbi; candidate portfolio and question bank.
Practical observance
Present a sustainable one-year Jewish-life plan: home, synagogue, learning, prayer, festivals, chesed, finances, and support network.
Hebrew strand
Practice 10–15 minutes daily: independent navigation and oral review. Record one passage that became easier this week.
Homework and reflection
Submit the capstone plan, including unresolved questions and every matter that still depends on local custom or rabbinic ruling.
Write 150–250 words: “How should this week’s learning change the way I live?”
Record attendance, practice completed, uncertainties, and one question for the sponsoring rabbi.
Rabbinic checkpoint
The candidate understands that finishing a syllabus neither performs nor guarantees conversion; only an authorized Beit Din determines readiness and procedure.
